On that note, the first investment Altium made was with Oramed Pharmaceuticals, which included a share percentage of 5.61%. This pharmaceutical company develops an alternative oral treatment for diabetes patients that includes ORMD-0801 & ORMD-0901, which are both insulin capsule that can be taken orally. Also, Amarin is another biopharmaceutical company that Altium invested in recently. This company is headquartered in Dublin and is developing a medication that improves cardiovascular healthcare for patients. Amarin bases its developments on products that combine the potential therapeutic benefits of polyunsaturated fatty acids and lipid science.
Furthermore, Oragenics in collaboration with Intrexon is another recent investment made by Altium. This company is focused on becoming the lead developer in new antibiotics that fight against infectious diseases. With Altium, Mr. Gottlieb shares office space with Stuart Weisbrod whose also a long-time colleague and titan healthcare investor.
In 2005 before his new venture, Jacob Gottlieb founded Visium Asset Management. By 2016, the company reached a peak with an $8 billion hedge fund. Not to mention, the firm has over 200 employees throughout North America & Europe, in cities like San Francisco, NYC, and London. Prior to Visium Asset Management, Gottlieb was a founding member at Balyasny Asset Management. In that position, he became well known for his large profitable gains and success. Previous to BAM, he also enjoyed another successful investment he made in Marlin of NYC. So without a doubt, Mr. Gottlieb has a long history of making investments with companies that later become successful.
